Winter Storm kiting on the Rise 4m !

It was blowing gale to storm force here on Vancouver Island this Sunday. Two other kiters out on 6m and 7m SLE's. They looked in control during lulls (35 knots), however the gust's to 48 knots put them in the danger zone. This was the perfect time to test the new 4m Rise. All pics feature the 2008 4m Rise kite and Mako 150 "Wide" board.

My weight 195 lbs. Wind ranged from 30 to 45 knots. RM out.

This place still feels like home to me, great to be back with old friends and put them on the Rise! Solid trades all week with five kites in the air all day right up until sunset. Exhausted and elated. The Rise is truly fantastic and work of both art and science. Ross, you are the man! Cheers, Evan

Mako Surf 1, originally uploaded by ocean rodeo.

With the 2008 production boards now out, its always a treat for the OR design team to ride a non proto product. OR R&D guru Ross Harrington switching it up on a 100% stock Mako Surf, right out of the box.
Location west coast Vancouver Island, Canada.

November in NorCal

Just one lone soldier was ambitious enough to demo the Rise at Crissy today. It was cold, there was no one else out, and the wind was awful. In the end, he had to self rescue and swim in when the wind crapped out altogether. I expected him to be choked, but he was stoked on the Rise and happy he braved it to get on the kite. Another convert who know understands why I tell everyone that the 12 Rise has more juice than most other brands 14's and 15's.... I went up the street and snapped a few shots of the killer surf at Fort Point after we packed it in. Check them out in my gallery. Cheers, Evan

Here's a shot of you color choices for the 08 Rise and a little bonus shot of the Mako Surf directional. Sorry, no action shots...you can guess what I did once I launched the last tester..... Cheers, Evan

So I don't have much to say here other than I'm super stoked to be in San Francisco with Crissy field a few minutes from my home office......just have to remember to keep an eye out for the instant shut down to avoid another swim and boat rescue.....ebb tide, incoming fog, darkness, tankers, sharks etc...... Oh, and the 08 Rise Venturi in orange really is mucho bueno! Cheers, Evan
