Ocean Rodeo Sports Inc, a world leader in the production and design of innovative, high quality kiteboarding and surf related equipment is today proud to announce the addition of Bryan Lake as its newest team rider. Additionally, Ocean Rodeo today announces the introduction of its custom Surf and Race Series directional board line up.

Bryan Lake brings solid wave riding and course racing experience to Ocean Rodeo’s top ranks. Having grown up in Southern California and now living in Hawaii Bryan brings a lifetime of sailing, surfing and water skiing experience to his kiteboarding. 2009 New Zealand Kiteboarding Nationals Grand Prize Winner

Posted by KevinM on March 4th 2009

To John Zimmerman,
c/o Ocean Rodeo Sports Inc.,

Tim Stockman of Kitesports.co.nz suggested I email the attached letter of thanks to you, in appreciation of the generous support given by Ocean Rodeo to the New Zealand Kiteboarding Nationals 2009. The event was a great success, and the draw for the Ocean Rodeo Rise kite you gave us was a highlight of our awards evening. The winner was local Christchurch rider, William Fitzgerald (picture of him receiving the kite from Tim is attached).

Thanks from myself John Thyne, and my fellow event directors, Blair Cooke and Tim Stockman.

The Ocean Rodeo - Obama connection!

Posted by EvanStolze on December 22nd 2008

As it turns out, the new President-elect and our fearless leader Richard Myerscoughyerscough are neighbors, at least for their family Christmas vacations. My guess is that if Richard has his way, by the New Year Obama will be proficient with a 2m Rise trainer, and probably stoked on SUP to boot...

You can check out the story here.

Cheers,

Evan

Congratulations to the San Francisco Crew!

After a fantastic summer, the 2008 Cabrinha race series came to and end with the cancellation of the final race due to lack of wind. I'd like to give a big shout out to the local Ocean Rodeo Crew who participated and gave it their all in an intense competition. Four of our riders place in the top 15! Chris Brown placed 8th, followed closely by Steffans Viljoen in 9th. Chris Slocum and Eric Geleynse took 12th and 13th respectively - great job guys! All four raced on the Rise kite, and two of the four competed on the Windydevil custom race board. Unfortunately we only had these boards for the last few races of the season, or the results would have been even stronger - next year baby!

Congratulations to the top five riders:

1) Anthony Chavez (Naish)
2) Chip Wasson (Ozone)
3) Jeff Kaffka (Cabrinha)
4) Geoff Headington (Slingshot)
5) John Gomes (Cabrinha)

Thanks to Cabrinha, Ozone Travel, Adventure Sports, Steve Gunn, the St. Francis Yacht Club and all of the locals involved for your hard work and a fantastic job well done!

2009 Ocean Rodeo Rise rocks the race course!

Posted by EvanStolze on September 7th 2008

I'm really stoked to announce that the 09 Rise has already proven itself to be a great race kite. Following Ocean Rodeo's domination at Nitinat Windfest, San Francisco team riders Stefaans Viljoen and myself had the opportunity to put kite to the test again at Cabrinha's Race Series on Thursday night. The wind was almost non-existant at the launch making it extremely challenging just to get to the start line. In my estimation, close to half the fleet never made it out!

The channel presented ideal conditions though to show what works best, and allowed for tactics to come into play. 15-20 knots, much stronger on some parts of the course than others, and a solid ebb tide meant that the wrong choice could either really help or harm you.

The usual suspects owned the top four positions (I'll leave the play by play and the posting of the official results to Steve from Cabrinha), but I managed to pull off 6th place overall after four heats - and this after dogging it out at the back of the pack in my first couple of races! Stefaans nailed a 7th place in heat one, but took himself and fellow Crissy regular Marcello Segura out for the night when they tangled in heat two.

Both of us were riding an 09 Rise and a Windydevil custom race board. The 09 kite has even more range, more depower and and goes upwind even better than the 08! In addition, more top end and range is accessed through a much shorter amount of throw at the bar, making it easier to maximize and utilize the full performance capabilities of the kite.

Thanks again to Steve Gunn, Cabrinha, Ozone Travel, Adventure Sports Miami and the St. Francis Yacht club for doing such a fantastic job!

Cheers,

Evan
