Mexico - Here we come

Posted by johnz on February 5th 2007
1st day on the water here in La Ventana and I tell you, people are STOKED! Evan and Brian from CaliKites arrived here yesterday and so had a chance to get out then too and apparently the last 2 days have been the best of the whole season. We had 2 7m Ones, an 8m Diablo, 3 9m Ones, a 12m One, 3 x Mako 134, 2 x Mako 150 and a Zen 135 all out, ALL DAY. Stoked. People were trecking down the beach to get on the new gear. I think we completely converted Roger (part owner of where we are staying) to Ocean Rodeo gear after he spent close to 2.5 hours on a Mako 134 and a 12m One. He came in dancing the jig...litterally. He summed things up saying, "that was the best session of my season, I didn't even know I could do tricks like that!" Sold. Welcome to the Crew! The new '07 equipment is turning heads. For sure. Tomorrow we are off to the "Camp Ground" - For those who have never been here it is a massive area of trailers, campers and tents...kind of like a slum town but with thousands of dollars in kite gear! Anyway, demo day tomorrow in the Camp Ground. We rolled though there today to let people know we were here and got a really good vibe. Pictures and more to post tomorrow! John Z - OR Crew.

OR Elite Crew Rider Philippe Alengrin - somewhere in Chile...

Who are we and what brings us together? What separates Ocean Rodeo riders from the rest of the world’s riders? What is it exactly that we have started here and where will it lead? Our Crew of riders know what it means to be dedicated to their sport. They know what 5am feels like and they know the payout for the effort put in to find The Spot. You know the one, no one else rides there – just you and your Crew. Ocean Rodeo. Created by people just like you. Created for people just like you. Ocean Rodeo - Welcome to the Crew

walking on barnacle's

Saturday was pretty nice for January in Canada! A small long period swell combined with a very low tide produced about 3 hours of perfect little peelers for the longboard crowd. We're applying the final mods to our new Coldfire boots today, so the hiking over the razor sharp barnacles was a great "final test" before full production. Richard Myerscough....out

Stoked!

This has been a week full of STOKE!
We made the official press release for the new surfing drysuit last Friday, always a halleluiah moment after many years working on a new product. Initial response has been phenomenal, with primary questions focused on price and availability ( the new website must be doing a good job answering the tech questions on the surf dry concept). Most are surprised that the price is coming in comparable to a high end hooded cold water surf wetsuit !
With the first batch of production surf dry drysuits heading out the end of this month we’re bracing for the revolution!

Happy New Year!!

Posted by KevinM on January 5th 2007
Hello All,
On behalf of Ocean Rodeo, I would like to wish everyone a Safe, Prosperous and Happy New Year. I am nearing the completion of my first week as Ocean Rodeo's new Customer Service Rep and look forward to meeting and working with all of you soon. I know everyone in the office is very excited and dancing with anticipation for what we have in store for 2007.
The feedback we've been receiving on our 2007 Kites and gear has been that of utter elation. And we already have everything in stock! Including our killer clothing line. Check it out at our website if you haven't already seen it.
I can't wait to get out on the water myself....until then...keep on trucking!!
p.s. Johnny Z made me add the picture...sorry all.

Hurricanes and waves…

Posted by Richard Myerscough on December 19th 2006
Without a doubt,...the weather has been crazy here at Ocean Rodeo! Hammered by 3 back to back weather systems featuring hurricane force winds we've taken a beating. The warehouse was knocked out for 2 days without power, and many of us have been "in the dark" with no power for up to a week. How we depend on our modern luxuries! The wind last Friday peaked at 80 knots ( 150 km ), with a west swell building to 40 feet (14 m) off the west coast of Vancouver Island. Lots of damage with massive trees falling like toothpick's on some exposed points. It seemed to be all feast or famine with the wind,...to much and then nothing! France's, Patrice Guenole of Magic Surf http://www.magicsurf.fr/ , (OR distributor for France) made a visit last week with his new Gong SUP boards (stand up paddle boards), with his trip timed perfectly between storms he scored some classic Canadian waves with Richard and Ross.

Baileys and Coffee!

Posted by johnz on November 27th 2006
Well, in a perfect contrast to Evan's last posting I thought I would provide you all with an update as to why you are likely having trouble getting through to our offices today. We, here on the South Island got hammered with a snow storm this weekend. So, while Evan rides the warm winds and swell in his postings below we are digging out and have had to take a "snow day". Really though, it ain't that bad. How often do you go to "work" with a Baileys and Coffee? John Z - OR
