Just received my new 08 Zen - stoked -  wheres the wind

LOOKS GREAT!!!! can’t wait to get mine…

will probably arrive next week!! footstraps and pads also look clean!!! This year I will go for the slightly bigger 129 zen instead of the 123.

Why is it so damn cold here in Holland… wish I had the money for one those drysuits!!!!

Yes i was the combo is valid…...

the board itself rocks 135 x 43 i’m 210 lbs so it works well, holds a great edge and shoots up wind very well. The only draw back (this will be resolved in a few months as john has informed me) the pads need a heel cup and a toe ridge. The strap are very comfy and the board has great visual colors to see it easily in the pacific water after a crash.  Very happy

The deck is awesome!! the rails are nice and thin, The woodcore is constructed in there as a X which will definitely increase the ability to load up the board. This thing has INSANE pop and I love the design.

PS I know that the straps on all the boards are the wrong way…. Excitement can win it from common sense. Graig and I know :wink: Funny thing that Johannes made the exact same mistake on his board… Maybe it was not a good idea to celebrate unpacking the new toys with a nice joint?

I have 3 things to confess as well…

1.
I’ve been using Zees yota as a rack for a demo Zen that Kevin set me up with.
Works great if you put that rail right in that seam between the hood and the quarter panel.
I rode the Zen for the very first time yesterday…..

I’m screwed!
How the hell am I going to give this board back!
This board is like a shock absorber and spring board all in one!
I jumped so high yesterday, I peed my suit!
Plus this turns way better than what I visualized in my mind,
rail to rail transitions were blow’n my mind and make’n me smile.
Darn’d thing points upwind like a rail gun too.
I fricken love it!

and three, hmmmmm…..

I want to start my day at the coffee shop, then maybe some window shopping, before a good session at the beach, with beer, too.

Re Straps:

It’s funny how there doesn’t seem to be a general consensus on whether the “fat” side of the strap goes to the outside or inside.  I have seen them mounted both ways, and tried them both ways.

Personally, I like them the way you have them now (on the surfboard) - with the wide part to the nose in front and tail behind.  It seems to fit my foot the best especially when I rotate my feet around within the straps..

How do you like those pads on the middle board…. what are they?

It is UG. expensive but an awesome combo must say. Probably the OR 3d pads will be really nice as well. Problem is that those are not available yet and I don’t want to use the stick-ons on such a fine board…. This is my board for kiteloops and other powered stuff so I really need good pads for this one.

@joe fat side of the straps should always face inside. Seems odd but you will have way better grip.

Wouter - I like the wide part towards the outside (on a surfboard) because I ride with the straps pretty loose, and I also rotate my feet depending on whether I am going toeside or heelside, and depending on what kind of turn I I am trying to make, so for me, it seems like I can use the wider part to curl my foot up against to get more grip.. but I guess I will try it again the other way and see!

Sorry Craig, I should have kept my mouth shut about the straps hehe!
