I had the chance at the weekend to to test drive a Sports saloon and a hot hatch.
Both showered peerless performance and slinging them around showed no hidden vices.

The hot hatch skirmish on bumps with a little heavier steering need you to be on your toes to get the best out of it.
Quick away and sheds loads of kick your ass power this is one very hot hatch. Throw it where ever you like and it was waiting for the next input.
This is for you to challenge and it will challenging you .

The Saloon though more expensive showed what a refined ride is all about. Quick and predictable turning with smooth power delivery and a reputed ( Not tested ) top end to leave others blown up in the   garage. Although not as quick away as the Hatch, if you are looking for a peerless machine to increase the pulse whilst retaining the long distance comfort and silky handling in rough conditions then this Saloon get the vote

Pretty much sums it up.

One does all things well and makes life easy, the other is a performance machine that behaves when asked to.

I rode the 2012 12m Rise the other day and still have a smile on my face.  Such a fun kite!

A tough choice between the 10M of the 2012 rise versus razor.

Both are sweethearts!

If I get a chance at checking the low-wind performance of the Rise, my choice may be easier. The Razor low-wind performance is impressive. IF the Rise low-wind perf. is close…it may win my selection.

If you need the bottom end of the 10m then the choice is simple Razor.  Top end it is the Rise. If neither extremes are high on the importance list then boy don’t you have a tough choice

One crew states about the Cypher: ‘the best OR kite yet by far’? Is that just personal opinion based on what they want the kite to do? I tried the 9m very briefly a month or so back but nowhere near enough to form an opinion.

For those that have spent some time on both Razor and Cypher:

What’s the bottom end of the Cypher like compared to the Razor?

Is it noticably less aggressive than the Razor?

Does it have a smaller sweet spot than the Razor?

Sounds like the Cypher is a good all round kite - rather like the Razor but a little less extreme and therefore better suited to unhooked freestyle and unhooked wave riding? Correct me if I’m wrong?

Yep, I’m debating the Cypher too. Decisions, decisions….I’m guessing the Cypher from what I have read will have a similar wind range in comparsion to the Razor?

I’m looking for the 10m to go between my 8m and 12m Razors. I ride the 12m Razor probably up to 20 kts, and then the 8m 20 kts and above. I’m thinking the 10m sweet spot will be 16 to 22 or so.

Rode a 2012 razor 10M/Mako 150x34 today at the same time as a friend rode my 17.5 Flite. These kites both have range.

....and yes, I was jumping the 10M Razor HUGE while the 17.5 was “surviving”(..and the guy is about 145 pounds, and flies Cabrinha most of of the time with a Jimmy Lewis twin tip, so this was a new kite to him)

...anyway…I’m confident that I can have a 3 kite quiver of a 17.5Flite or a 15Flite/10Razor/6Rise and go from 8knots to 69MPH…Cause I’ve done it!!!

Does anyone with the 12m Cypher have any comments on wind range? I’m guessing it’s slightly worse on the low end and better at the high end than the Razor.

I’m still trying to fathom out whether it’s going to be Razor or Cypher to be honest. Razor was nice, it had some real poke to it, especially in the loops. If the Cypher is slightly “softer” or steadier is perhaps a better word as some preliminary reports are suggesting then it might be tempting.

Ideally I need to get my grubby hands on one to try it out.
