I just had a few rides with my new Rise 8m 2011.

I liked the kite, but I found it very difficult to operate the power/depower mechanism on the bar.

I ride on gusty winds and I need to operate this mechanism every now and then.
I found it very difficult to power the bar and impossible to depower it again under strong winds.
In the beach it works ok, though.

I used to ride a Best Kahoona and the bar pressure on the Rise is much smaller. This is a great improvement.

But the power/depower mechanism!!!It justs doesn’t depower under strong wind. But that is exactly the sort of situation you want to depower an 8m kite.

I havent contacted the local dealer still.
I just thought it might be a good opportunity to explore this forum.
Plz, forgive me if this has already been discussed.

I found the same thing on my 2011 Rise 9/12 kites. When the line is all the way out to the stopper knot it was very difficult to depower.

I’ve hitched a 6” length of webbing to the line right above the ball, that gave me something much easier to grab and the leverage to depower in the strong gusts. No complaints now.

You can also add another knot to the throw line and shortin the out side leader lines to mach.

i usually turn downwind towards the kite to reduce the tension on my lines and i’ve had zero issues with depowering.  i hope this helps…
