I just ordered a 12m razor that comes with the 48-55cm bar (the bigger one). Can anyone tell me what size bar comes with the 10m? I currently use one bar for all my kites (12-9-6) which is the 42cm-49cm. Do I really need the larger bar size for the 12m? My 2009 12m turns just fine on the 42-49cm bar. I like to ride unhooked so I am concerned that the 48-55cm bar is going to be a bit big and clumsy and I wont be able to use it on my other kites since it will be too big.

I really like smaller bars but I noticed that my 10m Razor likes the 49 setting, especially for looping. With the Rises I am fine with small kites on big bars and vice versa, I think the Razor is bit more sensitive to bar sizing.

So if the 10m likes the 49, the 12m is not much bigger, so you think I could get away with the 42-49?

Yeah for sure.

I much preffer short bars.  That part of the kit is right in your face so you best like it or it will never stop bugging you.  Rode a 14m diablo on 45cm for a couple years.  Was actually a bit bummed when I realized the new bar was going to be longer, but I’m over it.  The shorter OR bar is pretty sweet for my tastes.  For unhooking or flying a kite one handed short bars are the go. 

Have the 49cm freestyle bar for the razors 10/6 and would never personally want the bigger one, even if I someday find the motivations to get a light wind kite.

Was upwind and having fun on the 10/surf combo on Monday in directly onshore slightly doming conditions.  Couldn’t have been much more than 12/13 knots there for a while.  Not too shabby!

I ended up getting the bigger bar for my 12m which I got in the mail today. just from appearance, this bar looks pretty good. I thought it might be too big, but it really isn’t that much bigger then the smaller bar. So I think getting the larger one was the right move.

I also purchased the larger, recommended size bar for my 10m Razor, even though I prefer smaller bars. For whatever
reason, it doesnt feel or appear ‘large’ and I am glad I decided that size particularly as I use this kite as my largest kite.
It is a personal decision but with the larger bar I can turn the kite a bit faster for light days.
