As lakes are freezing up and snow is falling, the kite community is preparing for frosty sessions on sea, ice and snow.
On a local forum someone mentioned jamming of quick releases.
Time to take the 2010 QR for a test!
After spraying water in it, and leaving it freeze for a few hours, the inside of the release cuff was solidly frozen:

So time to test the release action.
It took a little extra force to set it to motion (+50%), but after that it just released normally.

I’d say PASSED! (OK not if you succeed in covering it in 2” of solid ice but you might wonder what you are doing kiting when that happens…)
