I am pleased to report that the Rise is gaining a lot of respect here in Ottawa (Ontario, Canada.)  One of our local riders, who has claim to the most hours riding, used to be a Best boy… but now all he rides is his 12m 2009 Rise.

Best kites still probably outnumber other brands, but their share is falling!

I have a 12m Rise on it’s way, oboy oboy! cheese

My friend Grant, just bought my green, 2007 12m Rise so you will be seeing that kite on the river next summer as well. He just moved to Ottawa and will be joining the group in the summer. You can’t miss him, he’s 6’8” and 285lbs! The 12m is his high wind kite!

Summer?  He will miss out on all the great snow action!

Tell him to check out http://groups.yahoo.com/group/OttawaKiting/

We kite on the river when it’s frozen solid, and we have some fields available too.
This winter we are building some slider boxes.

Winter has a big advantage in that there is way more available space on the river, as it’s so much easier to go upwind.

At 285 lbs, he will definitely want to NOT be the first guy on the ice!  If he does come out this winter, then the yahoo group is more of a necessity, as there are postings about ice thickness and safety notices.

Jamie.

I forwarded this thread to him.
He has a couple of foils for use in the winter…...
