now that i have your attention….......for those of us that travel often, how nice would it be to have a mako splitboard that would fit into a standard suitcase….similiar to this http://www.xtremebigair.com/stores/showdetl.cfm?&DID=18&Product_ID=1069&CATID=10  minus the big price tag

the mako is very rigged, it seems that there must be some way to do this. unfortunately, im not smart enough to figure it out.

so OR and/or crew, someone figure this out.
anyone….ferris…...

I would think that there’s definately a market out there for something like this and OR are just the innovative kind of company to contemplate it.

In my mind I see something similar to the design pictured in the link. However there would certainly be the need for extra strengthening even with a board as concave as the Mako. By that I mean an additional third piece - a kind of ‘stringer’ slotted in and running two thirds the full length of the board.

Having the ability to transport your board locally in the car or on the bike in this way would be equally as appealing as being able to pack it down for longer trips in a holdall or suitcase.

A Mako with a 10 cm overlap like how these boards are usually made is no rocket science to build and would certainly work. No stringers needed, just a whole lotta screws to spread the load. As the Mako 140 and 15 are typical one board quiver boards, certainly something to consider. Interesting thought!
There will be a double board price tag too…
