I recently bought a 2011 used 8m Razor. In gusty winds it will fold in the wing tips and excessively luff when really loaded up. I am 210 lbs. and kite in the Gorge. I pump my small kites to 8.2 psi. It acts like it is underinflated but is not. Thinking about going to 9 psi. It steers in a balanced manner and is fine except in gusty really powered up conditions. I had another 2011 8m Razor that didn’t do this. Going to measure bridle segments and compare to a friends 8m 2011. Looking for advice on what to look for and were there any bridle issue with some of the 2011’s? Thanks for any help!
2014-07-04T15:22:27+00:00 Adding Locations http://oceanrodeo.com/forums/viewthread/4556/ http://oceanrodeo.com/forums/viewthread/4556/#When:22:00:25Z
I am still having problems adding locations to the map. I really like the layout of the new bar and above the bar trim, but I’ve had it out for 3 sessions and noticed a lack of power. The first session was gusty and I thought maybe the new 8m just lacked a bit of power. The 2nd session was solid 15 knots on a 12m and it felt light, but I thought it could be a mix of current or just that I hadn’t been out in awhile.

Yesterday however, solid 17 - 20 knots, everyone out on 9’s and 10’s and it felt like I was riding a 12m in 14 knots, no power to jump, just mowing the lawn. So, on a whim, I switched back to my Fusion bar, and instantly it felt like I jumped up 2m in size, the kite was much more powerful. I have no clue as to why.

Little background - the 10m is a 2013, I’m set up on the fast/more depower setup on all of my kites. I used the furthest knot (longest lines) on the freestyle bar, and the 2nd knot on the fusion bar (I’ve always had it setup that way). I’ve been kiting for 5 years, and on OR kites for 4 of them.

Any ideas? The kite still turned well, etc. with the Freestyle bar, just lacked power. Has anyone else experienced this? I’d hate for a newbie to think the kite is weak because of something with the bar.
2014-05-22T12:42:33+00:00 Origin DOOR? http://oceanrodeo.com/forums/viewthread/4534/ http://oceanrodeo.com/forums/viewthread/4534/#When:17:51:07Z
Hi Guys,

I was in Hatteras last week and as I was walking around KittyHawkKites, I noticed a new OR board standing in the board rack.
An Origin “Door” is basically what it is from what I could see…....nothing on the main site about it that I could find.
Would an OR insider type please give us the skinny on this board….
I rode my new Origin a few times on this trip, nice board, just not as funky as my Makos though…LOL!

Chuck

PS….Scored a perfect riding week while I was there!

2014-05-21T17:51:07+00:00 Ocean Rodeo Session 2 http://oceanrodeo.com/forums/viewthread/4533/ http://oceanrodeo.com/forums/viewthread/4533/#When:16:37:13Z
Hi there

I’m interested in buying a OR Session 2 harness. Unfortunately I’m not sure about the size I’m gonna need. I’m 62kg and 170cm. My first kite was the Razor 2013, 9m. With a Fusion bar, below the bar depower. Compared with the Cabrinha Switchblades, this kite felt like a rocket. A fast but stable kite.
With my 68 kg i can use the kite from 18 knots till 28+ knots without any problems.Lots of depower available. Jumping is no problem but it needs some technical skills. Bar pressure is a little light, but for this kite its fine. After one season the Razor is still my favorite kite. The only thing is that the black print on the struts is getting off and the white LE becomes very dirty. But ok, that’s optical.

After the Razor i’ve bought a 2012 Rise, 12m with a bar (SLE?) with below the bar depower. With the cow horn shape.
I’ve used it a couple of times now. It’s a nice kite with lots of boost & f load. Easy to fly and i already using it with 14 knots. For it’s size the turning speed is fast. The bar pressure is more than the Razor, not to heavy but just enough. The Rise is a strong good build kite. The only thing is that all the air valves (both sides - struts) have tiny cracks. For a 2 year old kite a little early i think.

Two months ago i’ve bought a Prodigy 2013, 7m. A nice looking kite, but unfortunately i only used it one time. Maybe today because, here in the south of the Netherlands, the south west wind is blowing 26-38 knots….

2014-05-09T10:57:06+00:00
