If you see the attached photograph it is ripe for a Mako King add. Just imaging substituting the guitar in the back seat for a Mako board. I suppose that you would need to ask for the right to modify and use the modified photo.
2014-04-21T10:48:36+00:00 2014 STORM 5m review, looks good in living room but on the water………………… http://oceanrodeo.com/forums/viewthread/4492/ http://oceanrodeo.com/forums/viewthread/4492/#When:03:37:46Z
2014 STORM 5m review, looks good in living room but on the water…………………

I bought my new 2014 Ocean Rodeo quiver a couple months ago, pumped them up and displayed the 5m STORM , 8m and 12 m RAZOR in my living room. They sure look good, but how do they perform? Today, GOOD FRIDAY, with Keho lake still ½ frozen, my good buddy and I took advantage of the warming 12 degree air and sun combined with some strong westerly winds, and spent a couple hours riding our new gear. Bob at 230 lb rigged his 6m Wainman, I at 195 lb rigged my crisp new 5m storm. Winds were 40km gusting 70km but forecast to 80km plus. Here is my review of the 5M Storm:
I self launched with a deadman and notice the kite bounced around, flipped over.. etc until I finally, moved the stopper to about 16 inches from bar and left the depower rope in FULL power mode, then it sat better on the ground and I self launched nicely.
It was gusty WIND, my past experience with the 6meter rise kites was a bit disappointing, I had 2009, 2011 rise 6m and found them squirrely and just not much fun, I usually ended up on the 8 m rise Kites and just hung on with their great range and temperament, or used my sons 6m Rebel that was really nice in strong winds. My 2012 rise 8 and 12 were excellent kites, unlike the 6m.
Bob looked lit on his 6m and I cautiously entered the water expecting something better than the old rise and hopeing for something as good as the Rebel. I was WRONG.
After only ½ hour, this 5 m storm is my favourite kite of all time. I started kiteing in the last century and have been scared often ( never panicked), but have become very respectful of the power of wind, especially strong gusty winds like today. This storm 5m absorbed the 80 km gusts very comfortable without any erratic movement of the kite, the kite seemed to naturally find the sweet spot in each gust of wind. It amazingly still had ability to power me through the 40 km lulls. It was stable but turned as fast as you wanted it to, very predictable, Bar pressure was medium and great feel. It sat in the pocket nicely for riding down the under 1 meter high wind waves, and still ripped up wind when you moved the kite up to the edge. This kite actually does what OR advertizes it to do.
I hope the 2014, 8m and 12 m razors satisfy me as well. Forecast is for 15 degrees, sunny and 30 to 50 km winds at KEHO for Easter Sunday
2014-04-19T03:37:46+00:00 Spain , Barcelona to Denia. I have the option of 10m and 13m Rise (2011) and 10m and 12m Razors. I have a 142 JTpro board and normal winds here are 10-25kts. I have read much here about them and all seem to be good options, but it would be nice if you could give me some advice in my particular case. I am a beginner too, but have read the Razor should not be ruled out for beginners.
Thanks,
S
2014-03-30T07:24:09+00:00 Holiday on Vancouver Island August 2014 http://oceanrodeo.com/forums/viewthread/4445/ http://oceanrodeo.com/forums/viewthread/4445/#When:21:43:32Z
Hi guys,

We’re from Holland and we’re planning a trip to Vancouver this summer. We are a family of six persons, three of us do kitesurfing. We all have an intermediate level. We can stay upwind, do backrolls and jumps. What are the best places for kiteboarding and which conditions can we expect? Which sizes do you use in August on Vancouver Island?

Hope to see you next summer on Vancouver Island!

Ciao, Coert
2014-03-29T21:43:32+00:00 Flite beats Cloud 17 http://oceanrodeo.com/forums/viewthread/4434/ http://oceanrodeo.com/forums/viewthread/4434/#When:21:23:34Z
http://www.kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2384175

Nice job OR guys. Average Joe reviewed the Cloud 17 and, while they liked the kite, preferred the OR Flite in terms of low end power and performance.

I think that OR is going to sell alot of Flites!

Kirk
2014-03-17T21:23:34+00:00 Prodigy line adjustment http://oceanrodeo.com/forums/viewthread/4433/ http://oceanrodeo.com/forums/viewthread/4433/#When:17:06:00Z
I was helping a buddy kite in light winds yesterday with his 9.5m prodigy (2013). I think it was the free ride bar but it could have been fusion… (I’ve only ridden razors on the freestyle bar for the last couple of years). His setup had the rear lines on the center point adjustment of the kite between turn fast/slow. Conditions were light but rideable; definitely too light to jump well. The bar wasn’t depowered at all. In the sky, the kite flew quickly, easy to loop, etc. What I noticed though is that even with the bar pulled in fully the rear lines still had slack in them. Is that normal for the prodigy? I was amazed that it turned and quickly. All of my other kites when the bar is fully sheeted in, the rear lines are tight. The only noticeable downfall was relaunching the kite (on snow). Simply pulling in the bar on one side did not allow easy relaunch from the bladder side down position. (It was easier to reverse launch the kite the way you do with foils).

So my question is: should the rear lines be shortened so they are taught when sheeted in? Or are floppy back lines part of the kite design and the wind was just too light?

Thanks for the insight!
2014-03-13T17:06:00+00:00
